2018 Conference - About District VIII

About District VIII

District VIII was organized in 1976 under the Neonatal-Perinatal Section of the American Academy of Pediatrics.  It is a non-profit organization with a primary goal of providing a mechanism for the interaction and education of health care professionals within the district who share a common goal of improving the outcome of pregnancy.

District VIII is governed by an elected Section Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary and Treasurer together with a Council of appointed representatives from each of 14 western states and Canadian provinces.  Any health care professional may become a member, get involved, and enjoy opportunities for learning, making new friends, and exchanging information.

District membership pays for itself with member discounts for this annual conference.  You can’t afford to not join!

Donate to Support Education

A gift agreement document drafted and approved by a unanimous vote of the District VIII Council became a legal document in 2006.  This established the “Founders Education Foundation Fund” and provided binding rules for the receipt and disbursement of funds for the educational purposes laid out in the document, primarily to bring neonatal fellows and advanced practice trainees to the annual conference.  After the fundraising goal is met, a specified portion of the annual investment profits will be applied to this cost, currently in excess of $10,000 per conference.  The ultimate goal is for the Education Foundation to fully fund fellow and APRN travel and be self-sustaining.

Note: Those wishing to make a donation to the Education Foundation may do so at registration, at this event, or anytime at www.district8perinatal.org.   All donations are fully tax deductible and a formal receipt will be issued.
